Annual Book Fair
Thanks to all the children and parents who contributed to our annual Book Fair. This year’s total was €975 which entitled us to €575 worth of free books for the school.
Shared Reading
Shared reading took place this year from 28th Feb – 7th March. The older children read to the younger children every day for 30 minutes. This was an enjoyable experience for all the children.

Fifth and sixth class are delighted to see that the daffodils they planted in Autumn are now growing strong and Spring is on the way! See our pictures on the senior classes page.
Speech and drama lessons for all classes began again on the 18th of January and will continue every Friday for twelve weeks. We will be working towards another great concert, which this year will be held in our new p.e. hall in May.
Singing and music lessons with Cora O Brien and Sr. Moira Bergin continue on Thursdays for pupils from 1st class up, which complements the music curriculum being taught in the school.
*There was a carol service in the school p.e. hall on Thursday, 20th of December at 2pm, with all pupils from the school taking part. Sr. Moira Bergin and Ms. Cora O Brien have been doing some music lessons and singing with the pupils and the results were great on the day, as it was a lovely carol service and a nice way to start Christmas.

*Our 2013 calendar which is on sale in the school, is a limited edition calendar with photos of each class, along with pictures of the school being built and the pupils and staff entering the school on the day it opened. This calendar is not just a calendar, but a piece of local history, which will some day be a treasured reminder of times long gone.

In November some pupils brought in shoe boxes filled for Team Hope and the boxes were collected early so that they will reach children in other countries in time for Christmas.
Congratulations to Eimhin and Dean in sixth class who won first and second place in the Lions Club Peace Poster competition which we enter annually. They were presented with their awards on Wednesday 7th November in Laois County Hall, Portlaoise. They are two great artists, well done to them both!
Borris Kilcotton intermediate team captain , Ronan Kelly, (a past pupil of our school), brought some players and friends to our school with the cup they won in the county final this week. All the pupils were delighted, and had no homework that night!

On Tuesday, 5th June we moved into our new school at last and we all LOVE it!.
Our open day was on Monday, 18th June from 1pm to 3pm. We welcomed everyone who came to see the school that afternoon and sign our special guest book which was a gift to the school from our Parents' Association. 6th class gave guided tours of the building and did a great job.
